STV Inspire 22 / Build a Sketch

This is the inspiration photo that Gina used for her inspiration challenge.  Now, in her case, she made a flower basket, but you could also do a card with flowers. I chose to make a card.  I used GKD A Year of Flowers, illustrated by Melanie Muenchinger.  I will always love this set.  On these flowers, I sponged all yellow, and than did the inside and edge with really rust.  I love this bright, vivid look.  I added a few ms punches of leaves and gems and it is done.  This card sketch was built by Denise's Build a Sketch challenge.  I just have a blast with her challenge.  If you like building cards, stop on by.  No one plays~~ that has to be so discouraging for her.

Inspiration Challenge 231

I always look forward to this challenge.  Gosh some of the cards that are done are amazing creations based off of the inspiration they chose.    I needed to use my Clear Dollar stamps, and these colors were perfect for such fun images!  Don't you agree?  I used the gel pen trick of dots to do a little highlighting - I really like the way it helps the images to pop.

Inspiration Challenge

What a morning - it's almost noon and I still HAVE NOT MADE A CARD~  I have been on the computer all am commenting - that was ALOT of comments I left~~ I wanna stamp....I am uploading what I did last pm for the Inspiration challenge over at SCS.  I had fun with both of these, but I just love this one -

"The Shoe" - it is a 3x3 tiny little card - I think I am going to make a set of these with a purse, hat, shoe, and a dress.  How adorable would that be!  If I do - you will see it since I post so much on here! LOL

This set of cards was originally inspired by Carol -she is Queen for the Day over at SCS.  I was further inspired by a mirror on the inspiration site Jazz it Up.  I can't link (you end up in general site rather than specific)... just trust me! LOL  Edited: This also fits the CP sketch #62 espcially the belly band portion insert.  I just don't have the embellies -

I used ALL my new sets I received from Clear Dollar Stamps - how fun are these sets.  I used a recycled body butter jar as my holder.  Even though I washed it, it still has a faint scent which will make the cards have a subtle scent also- how perfect that will be!  I also used CDS paper.  I was happy with the  quality of this wonderful  paper.  On this Mustard Seed I used, there is a subtle texture that I just adore!  What is great about the paper is Lori has coordinating ribbon AND Tombow markers that all have the same name!  Gosh, does that make it easy for shopping~~  She is running a special for May.  Check it out!

Okay - I am off to stamp!  I have a few "due" projects to work on, but I am sure I will return at some point today..  Thanks for stopping by~~

SCS Inspiration Challenge #229

Actually did 2 cards for the challenge today~~ the 2nd one was late, but I instantly thought of this cute guy, Clear Dollar Stamps~ Butterfly Bunny,  when I saw this.  Don't you see why? LOL My first card is based off a few I have seen lately and this colorful toy.  I don't normally like circles but it made the cutest set of CAS cards~ so easy and the box was easy too - so ya know - I just had an easy and fun project!

SCS Inspiration Challenge #228

It's time again for my favorite challenge - Inspiration for SCS. This week we chose from Crate Label Museum. I chose this label.

I used the adorable bunny from Clear Dollar Stamps - Butterfly Bunny.  My inspiration was the black and white of Fido here for my bunny.  Black copic is rather a difficult blending color - which, I thought it might be - however, you get the drift about my bunny's colors.  I used the Friend stamp from GKD Botanical Dreams.  Once again, I sure hope CDS doesn't get upset when  use another stamp with theirs - Friend was so perfect with this cute butterfly and bunny - they just scream friends!

On my card, I has started with a black base (as the inspiration photo), but it was much to stark with my cutie image, so I changed and went with mint.  Much better don't you think?  My sketch is from Taylored Expressions #109.  I thought about doing this layered technique last pm - when  saw Taylor's sketch this am I thought well HOW PERFECT is that!!  I am short one circle but I still like it~~

Ladies, I am off to create yet another card.  I have a few future projects due and  need to get creating.  Oh yeah - heads up on Monday April 19 (yep - 2 days from now), I am hosting the "Try a New Technique"  over at SCS.  Be sure to come on over and play.  My technique is going to be an easy one that I know you will have fun doing.... See you there!!

Guest Designer Contest

Gina K at Stamp TV is running her contest for April's Guest Designer position.  This month she challenged participants to remember your favorite storytime book, and than make a card based on it.  I instantly thought of "Time for Bed".  I love this contest because it brought back such precious memories on my son sitting on my lap "helping" me to read this book every night for about 6 months!  Heck, I can even remember the chair we sat in.  Did I get tired of reading the same book - you bet ~ do I regret any of that time spent.........gosh no~  Being that my son is now 15, these memories help to remind me that my son will like me again someday......LOL.  The days they are little go so fast~~ people always told me that~~ WOW I can't believe how amazingly fast it went.  I see why the grandparents enjoy grand kids ...They  know to appreciate EVERY moment because they experienced how time flies.

Anyway, on to my inspired card ~ I also instantly thought of Theresa Momber's set Sending Sunshine.  I hadn't yet inked up the tree or the deer but I knew that both would be perfect for a "bedtime" scene.  I tried to convey dusk time~~ being together relaxing, getting ready for bed.  I think I managed that~ what do you think?

If you get a chance check out the amazing entries - it's fierce!  April Book There are so many talented stampers that play over at Stamp TV, but not so many that you "miss" a lot of the beautiful creations.  I doubt I will win, but I sorta did because of the wonderful feelings I had making this card~ might sound sappy, but REALLY having a 15 year is such a challenge...........

IC227 - Seattle

I had so much fun making this card.  The Inspiration Challenge at SCS is your "home" state.  Well, I live in Arizona,  I love living in Arizona, but I do not consider this home.  Home is Seattle - yep, you got it:  duck feet and rain.  It was so fun using Laurie Wilson's, from Clearly Delightful, new digi  Harold (the duck) [- I got him for just entering her challenge - nope I didn't win, I just entered!] along with an umbrella from CDS Blooming with Blessings.  AND, yes I also colored Harold with copics.. I am beginning to semi get the hang of it~ LOL.  I am so happy with Harold - he worked just perfect for my inspiration of home.

No, I didn't get to organizing my stamp room - I had to color Harold!!  Thanks for stopping by~~

Another Inspiration Card for SCS

This William Chambers Millinery site is so unique - NEVER would I imagine anyone wearing these, but they sure are fun to look at.  I chose this hat to make this card.  I used the blue from her eyes for the teal I used.  This card also covers Becky's Compose a Card #7 - I love this series.  I love having "help" in layouts for cards.  And, this is also for Crazy 4 Challenges - kraft color for a card base~ this is NO problem for me since I adore kraft!  Ladies - thanks so much for your challenges~~ I have so much fun playing!    I used my fun new Fashionably French set for Clear Dollar Stamps - I paper pieced AND cuttlebugged this fabulous dress - I loved the effect with the striped folder.  Of course, the fabulous shoe (which I colored with copics) - an outfit is simply not done without the shoes~ LOL.

Thanks for stopping by~~

Fun at the Farm Book

This is my first DT sample for Clear Dollar Stamps.  I have to say I really had fun with this stamp set Fun at the Farm to make this book.  My 2 year old niece is learning animal sounds so how perfect is this for her!  I made this for the F4A6 challenge over at SCS  an accordion card, along with the Inspiration challenge.  My inspiration was this hat.  I thought it looked like the farmers hat...

I would like you all to notice that I did use my COPICS to color all my farm animals!  I think I did okay the light source is still eluding me, but the more I see samples, and play with them, I will get it!  I have to laugh tough, I didn't really color good as a child ~~ an artist I am not!  I need to work at it!  LOL

Thanks for stopping by, please leave a comment - I love to hear from you!!  Later..

Inspire 15 - Asian Inspiration

I made this card for Gina's Inspiration Challenge based off an Asian light.  I used a stamp my friend had given me a looooong time ago by Rubber Stamped, and my sentiment is from GKD Inside and Out.  My bow is made with the help of the Bow Easy.  That is really a great investment if you are bow challenged (like me).  Okay, card 2 is done I might go for 3... we shall see.  Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comments~  I so appreciate you taking the time!

GKD Sketch & JUGS25

This card is for GKD's sketch challenge for her new releases this month.  [Some amazing stuff!]  My card colors come from JUGS25 challenge - light brown, green, yellow and blue, and the theme, and also inspired by this adorable cake colors from SCS Inspiration challenge 224.  Spring Card is for Crazy 4 Challenges 29. I used one of GKD's new stamp sets Sending Sunshine illustrated by Theresa Momber.  As you can see, I colored with copics and popped up the flower portion of the stamp.  I used white, lemon drop, ocean mist and K&C polka dot paper.  My ribbon is from Mike's.  Thanks for stopping by -- its Saturday so I will be back with more cards.

Inspire 14 - Happy Birthday

Once again, this card started out as a 5.5 by 4.25 - I got it ALL done and realized I GLUED it on upside down - sheez.  So, I cut it off and put it on a 5.7 base of purple and wala - a 5x7 with another layer - good thing I like layers!  LOL.  With this card I kept it pretty clean and simple~ the elegant Happy Birthday (GKD Inside and Out) just seems to go with that type of card. I also used GKD Botanical Dreams illustrated  Asela Hopkins.  All papers are from Gina K Designs also.

I mentioned gluing my card together - well I just have to share.  I normally use 3M double sided tape [it removes within the first 15 min or so] however, I got glue runners for $1 each  [yeah, I bought 10] at Big Lots!  Talk about a find!  I so love bargains!!  Okay ladies - thanks so much for stopping by!!

Verve March 1/ Crazy 4 Challenges

Well, no such luck for winning in February - so now I am trying for March.  I based my colors on these kitchen items.  Every month we are touring houses - this month kitchens.  Also, there is a sketch to follow.  This is also for Crazy 4 Challenges - 3 different textures.  The card is pretty basic really -I scored the background on my Scor Pal every 1/2 inch,  I used GKD's Botanical Dreams for the flowers and than ran in through my friend cuttlebug for the striped lines.  Stamped my sentiment - Verve Happiness Found - and while still in the nesties I sponged barely banana.  Used brads on my primas mounted it all and the card was finished.   I am on such a roll today - WOW!  Later gator..

IC221 - Congrats

My card for the Inspiration Challenge was from this beautiful costume.  I will say, Stef did an excellent job with this site.  The costumes the competitors wear are just stunning to me.  Of course, I was drawn to this one since I just love black and turquoise together!  I embossed the leaves with white pigment ink and used black sparkle embossing powder.  For once, my photo was able to pick up the "sparkleness".  My scrunch flower was made with punched pages out of a magazine.  That paper works so well for these flowers!  It scrunches really well.  The Congratulations sentiment is from GKD newest set Inside and Out.  This is a FREE set when you buy 3!  I love the basic sayings on this set.  Thanks for stopping by.  I am off to make another card.  Its Saturday - I have ALL day and night to play!  I like Saturdays!

Theresa's Showcase #2

This is a second showcase for Theresa Momber's (GKD) Hang in There stamp set.  I got my inspiration from this (IC220 over at SCS) and changed the bird to a dragonfly (nesties 'Insects') to support Taylored Expression in their Dragonfly Drive to help support parents in the loss of their child.  This also qualifies for the Belli Blog - dragonfly or butterfly on your card.

I did my dragonfly with the cracked glass technique.  [For once, I actually got my photo to show the effect!]  I used gold mirror paper (love this stuf!) that I got from Marco's Paper Supply.  I also used a cuttlebug folder and dry embossed with my circle nesties.  I don't know about you, but I don't know what I did before I got my cb and nesties!  I love those two tools more than anything else I own!  They just add so much for my cards!  Thanks for stopping by - I am sure I will have more cards today so check back, or sign up for an email notice!  You will get sent daily what I have done.  I sure appreciate all your wonderful comments~~ Vicki

STV challenge - star on your card

I just got in my new "star" stuff - cuttlebug folder, nesties - oh how fun!  I only used 1 nestie on this - didn't want to over do the stars and I went with different colors for me. My mojo still hasn't come back full but at least I am stamping!  This sketch is for Eat Sleep Stamp #70.

Thanks for stopping in!  Vicki
