Seize the Birthday Challenge - Stencil

Boy, stencils are all the rage right now.  Works for me as I have a ton of them!

There are many techniques you can use when using stencils.  That said, I went with the Ghosting Technique.

I started by ink blending my background, and then laid a diagonal striped stencil down over the top, and spritzed it with water.  I used a paper towel to absorb off the excess water, lifted the stencil, and then used the paper towel once again to get that excess water off.  You are left with a subtle image.  To add some dimension, I used an embossing folder and sanded off the top layer of ink.

I cut out some foliage [Tim Holtz Holiday Greens Thinlits], adhered those to my card, and added a sentiment from Pink Fresh Studios Perfect Sentiments.  That's it for me today.

Your turn!  Come on over to Seize the Birthday Challenge and play along.  While the stencil is optional, being a birthday card is not.

What a fabulous background! And I love that you brought out an *older* embossing folder and made it look new and different.

What a great idea to use not only a stencil but an EF as well! It makes a striking background! I love that you sanded off some of the top, the white really shows up and the words (happy!) pop out at you!
