House of Cards - Color Challenge

It's the time again for the House of Cards Challenge.  We have a color challenge this month;

Well, I am sorta pushing the limits here considering this is suppose to be a CAS card, but,  I was so inspired by the photo that I am going with it.  [Hell, let the challenge police get me ;)] I had so much fun using water color paper, stamping with Distress Inks and spritzing for the blurry background effect. I then re-stamped the flowers and colored in with more water coloring. I used the perfect Hero Arts Delicate Blossoms [so close to the photo], along with a sentiment from Essential Messages.  Yep, I am really liking this card!

Are you inspired by the colors/ photo?  Well come on over to the House of Cards and play along!  We would love to see how you are inspired~

October House of Cards - CAS card challenge

It's time again for the House of Cards CAS Challenge. This month, Mynette has given us a sketch.

I turned my card into a gift card holder by using a glassine bag as the center panel.  I left the card showing so you could see it.  Actually, it fits perfectly into the bag.

Come on over and play with the sketch!  We have a sponsor and prizes!  Come check it out!

House of Cards Challenge - CAS

It's that time again - House of Cards with the Clean and Simple Challenge.  This month, we are using a sketch.

I just adore using die cuts to make CAS cards. It doesn't get much easier [and cleaner] than that.  I used the stunning Memory Box Vivienne Butterfly and the solid Darla Butterfly, along with Piestra Tile.  My sentiment is from Hero Arts Live Life.

I hope you pop on over to House of Cards, check out the rest of the Team's samples, and then play along!  I think this is just a fun sketch!

House of Cards 5th Week

Because its the 5th week of the month, House of Cards does a week special where all 5 days, we use the same inspiration photo, but we do our "style" samples on the different days.  Today's is the CAS style.

Here is the inspiration:
and here is my card:

I just loved the graphic feel of the photo.  I was able to keep it pretty CAS I think!  I used the retired GKD set, Hang in There, along with the hello from Hero Arts, Essential Messages.

You can pop on over to House of Cards and check out all the different samples of styles by the DT's, and see if there is one you want to play in!  It's a fun challenge site with lots of choices.

New Challenge Site - House of Cards

I am very excited to let you all know about a new challenge blog out here in cyberspace. 2 stampers, Mynnette, of On a Stampage and Ruth, of Flower Sparkle, have gotten together to create House of Cards. HOC is a month's worth of challenges broken down by week and style. Check it out:

Week 1: Fun & Cute
Week 2: Clean & Simple
Week 3: Classic & Elegant
Week 4: Shabby & Vintage
Week 5: Your Fave + Photo Inspiration

This challenge site will give you a wonderful opportunity to try all the styles of stamping. I am also quite excited to tell you I am on the Clean & Simple Team!

For this first CAS challenge this month, it is a color challenge.  You need to use at least 3 of the colors.

I sponged my background panel and shook on water [for the "I love this effect" effect].  I punched out 3 hearts [MFT Rustic Hearts] in designer paper, added some sequins and bling, added my computer generated sentiment, cut with MFT Mini Tabs, adhered all to my card base, and my first HOC CAS card is complete!

I hope you check out this fun new challenge site, House of Cards, and play along!  Can't wait to see what you do with the colors.  Remember, keep it clean and simple.
