3 Day Card Making Workshop

I joined in over at Justine Hovey's Fearless Card Making in Minutes Workshop.  It's all about just getting back to the basics and using the supplies you actually have, while limiting yourself of stress.  I can do that.

Because I missed the first day [yesterday], I made 2 cards [just today] and [hopefully] I'll be able to play in day 3.  Time sometimes just isn't available.

Okay, the supplies I used; embossing folders, layering stencils, and of course ink.

Day 1 - Choose a focus; I went with birthday, layered stencils, and embossing.

I am rather happy with my end result.  Limiting, and focusing on what supplies to use, really does make it easier to create a card. [slap forehead? 😀] I'm still on the wagon about layering stencils, however, I have them, I need to use them. I have always loved embossing folders - the added texture is always a fun addition.  Finally, shadowing a sentiment - totally works for me!

====================================

Day 2 - Choose a Technique; Again, I used the same supplies; birthday, layered stencils, and embossing.  The technique is the layering stencils.  [Practice does help to improve.]

Just by changing the images, and texture - totally makes a different card!  Same supplies.  (Yep, Justine might be on to something here! 😀)

Rather then a die sentiment, I used a stamp and white embossing powder.  So the trick with white powder?  DO NOT press your Versamarked sentiment to hard into the card stock - press lightly, and maybe repeat 3 times for a good impression.  Why you ask?  Well...my first attempt, the letters all mushed together (yep, I pushed to hard) and after embossing, you couldn't even read the words. Sheesh.

Well, that's it for me today.  I did thoroughly enjoy creating these cards.  Focusing, and limiting supplies is rather a game changer.  Go figure.

Thanks for stopping by~

You've mastered these two focuses! Really pretty cards, and probably some tips that we all need!

Pretty cards, Vicki! Love them both, but the second is my favorite!

Sounds like fun - time is never on my side unfortunately. Both of your cards are fabulous!
