STAMPlorations ARTplorations Stencil Hop

ARTplorations is having a fun hop today!

I used the Ghosting Technique for this card.  Sponge on distress inks [I used Wild Honey, Mustard Seed and Spiced Marmalade] -  lay the WEAVING Stencil down over your sponged card panel, spritz it with water, and blot off the water while leaving the stencil on the panel.  Lift stencil off.  I love the end results of this effect.  I then cut down my panel, stamped it with Boxed Blooms and a sentiment from Fond Expressions 2, and embossed it with a Tim Holtz embossing folder.  I am entering this into the April CAS Mix Up Card Challenge; stamping, stenciling, and choice [embossing].

For this card, I sponged on distress inks; [Peacock Feathers and Mowed Lawn], then I taped my stencil over the panel and sponged on Mermaid Lagoon.  [I rather like this look - I have never done that before :).]  I stamped Bloom Sketches, colored with Copics, and cut out with a fishtail die.  My sentiment is also from Fond Expressions 2.

Be sure and leave a comment on the blogs for the prizes:
  • THREE (3) winners will receive their choice of ARTplorations stencil (standard size - 5x7). Winners will be randomly drawn from all comments left on the designers' blogs.
  • ONE (1) winner will receive a $15 gift certificate OR her choice of 2 ARTplorations stencils (standard size - 5x7). Winners will be randomly drawn from comments left on the STAMPlorations blog.

Love both your cards and learnt two new techniques too, might be the ones that persuade me to look at buying a stencil as not something I own but your cards and backgrounds are stunning thank you for sharing.

Two beautiful cards Vicki! LOVE the ghosting on your bright and sunshiny card. Those colours are GORGEOUS!

And great idea with sponging first and then sponging over the stencil. Another great way to use stencils. :) So creative. And beautiful colours again!

really stunning background. I would not have thought to sponge first, then lay the stencil and use a darker color. I LOVE the effect. Oh, and your flowers are colored beautifully too!!

I hesitated to get this stencil because I wasn't sure how to use it without making the card look too "heavy" but now that I see your examples, I will definitely get it soon. Beautiful cards!
