Dirty Challenges

Over the next 5 days, SCS is running the annual, Dare To Get Dirty Challenges.  To see/ and or play in these, you must be a Fan Club Member.  There are a ton of prizes to be won  from the Member Companies; check this out.

Meanwhile, while I can't tell you the specific challenge, I can show you some cards I have made for the challenges;

Thanks to Theresa Momber and her fabulous tutorials!  She is so amazingly talented, and I for one, love the fact she shares her talent with the rest of us!  I used GKD set [illustrated by Theresa herself] Tropical Nature.

If you happen to follow Susan over at Simplicity, you know I purchased her recommended inspirational book, Bags, Tags and Labels.  What a fun, inspirational book!  I made this tag from just 1 of the thousands samples in this book!  I used the GKD set I Do! for this tag.

I think I was on a "Theresa" kick while making these challenge cards. :)  I used the GKD set Sweet Strawberries for this card.  I used the sketch from Less is More's challenge this week.

This last card was a sample used to show the challenge by Kim Teasdale.  I used the gorgeous poppies from Paper & Such, , and the sentiment is from Verve's Kindred Spirits.

Okay, that's enough for today.  There are 35+ challenges, they started on Saturday, July 28 and the deadline for completion is Monday, August 6th at midnight.  Remember, you must be a Fan Club member to play~  Have fun!

Thanks for stopping by~

NEWS & I Spy Sketches #1

Exciting NEWS!  Kim Teasdale is back in action!  She has started up a new sketch challenge called I Spy Sketches.  I was beyond thrilled when she asked ME to be on the Team.  It is such a perfect opportunity since I always start with a sketch!  My teammates are none other then exceptional stampers (which, is sort of intimidating to me, but than again it makes me work even harder at making killer cards!)  Today is Sketch 1 of the challenge site.

This is going to be an exciting challenge as we are perusing everywhere looking for YOUR sketches to create with.  Who knows, one day your card and layout could be FEATURED!  Today's stunning sketch comes from............ oh you are going to have to pop over to the I Spy Sketches blog and find out.  [Wow -- it is a stunning card!]  Meanwhile, here is my sample using the fun sketch.

I used the beautiful Poppies image from Paper and Such.  I just adore this image!   My scallop Border Carnival is by Cheery Lynn.

I hope you pop over to the I Spy Sketches blog and play along!  Be sure and become a follower, and while there, check out the beautiful work of the amazing Team Kim put together!!  You are in for a treat~ and oh yeah, don't for get to play! :)

Paper & Such Challenge

My stamper friend, Julie Smith owns an online store, Paper and Such.  I have been a follower of her clean and gorgeous work for years. (I found her gallery 4 years ago when I joined SCS).  Anyway, Julie graciously sent me a few of her images to play with.  OH HEAVEN -- lovely stamps!  I have been having fun creating with her images.

This is called a Basketful of Flowers. I did a little spotlighting to accent the flower basket.  I made this for my son in law -- do you think it is masculine enough?

While perusing Julie's store, I came across her Paper and Such Blog -- it has challenges!  [The stuff you find in cyber space, so fun!]  Well, when I saw the inspiration photo, I had to join in the fun!

I used another one of her fabulous images - Poppies.  These are so gorgeous -- this is only 1/3 of the image -- the entire image is big and gorgeous!  I had every intention of using sage green, but well, aqua kind of won. :)  I am thrilled with my coloring (ya all know I am color challenged) - but this image was so easy to color!!
Unknown to me, both of these sets are currently on SALE!  Pop on over to Paper and Such and get them before they are gone!

On a side note,an interesting thing happened to one of my Tim Holtz dies -- actually, it p.o.'d me off!
Do you see this!! (These are not sitting on top of the plate, they are CUT INTO the plate!) I cut with this die (on the card above) and [gee, thanks Tim] the ridiculous sturdiness of these dies (ha!) cut so far into my plate that it TOTALLY came out of the frame!  The die is destroyed!  DH had to get pilers to get it out of the C plate! ARE YOU KIDDING!  This is the same die that I used 2 days ago over 30 times for labeling my stamps -- I had no problem at all........then.  I am not sure WHAT I did, but I am so bummed I ruined this die!  Naturally, I got it at summer CHA and can't get it replaced (w/o buying another one) -- damn.

Did you want to see my project made with this die?

See why I am bummed? I wasn't done labeling my stamps! On for goodness sake!

On that note, really, I am done for today...... Thanks for stopping by~
