I came across a post on Moxie Fab World regarding asymmetry with card design. I am so interested in this "balance" that seems to come second nature to a lot of stampers out there in blogland, and something I completely struggle with! I want this to be "my second nature". So, I made a card to play along in the challenge, and get started practicing this design element.
Naturally, I had some help - I played the the fun Dynamic Duos #18 - Limeade and Red Hot. I played a few weeks back in this challenge and totally made up my own rule to add a 3rd color -- whoops. :) You can only add a NEUTRAL. [Big difference I guess huh?] And, because I didn't trust myself to be able to "balance" my card I used the sketch from over at Chupa's.
I can "see" the balance on this sketch, and I really do love the layered clustered effect.
So, what do you all think? Does my card have that "feels balanced" effect I really want to master, or, did I cheat by using the sketch? Either way, I am linking this card to the Asymmetry Challenge. I really want the offered Card Design magazine. Now this one I believe can teach me important stuff about creating my cards!
I continued to perused around the ole Moxie Fab Blog and realized Cath has challenges in dealing with designing from the articles in the Card Design magazine. [I am so getting this magazine!]. I decided to try 2 more of the design a card elements along with Moxie Minty which is ending Monday.
FOCAL POINT:
Using the newly released Gina K Designs, Lighthearted Wishes, I made this fun card. I hope I did it correct by using the brackets to really make your eyes focus in on the light bulb. The font is so perfect with this cute image. :)
REPETITION:
Okay, this is obviously not a strong skill for me. I always struggle with centering top/bottom - left/right on my cards. As you can see, I wasn't able to fit 3 leaves, which to be honest is what I really wanted. So, I added the red gem to help balance the card. Did it work? (See, I told you I struggle!!) I used Gina K Designs Sun-Kissed Autumn STV Kit for this card.
MINTY:
I wanted to play in the Minty Challenge, well, just because it ends September 3 and I was able to make a challenge card. I rarely use pastels, I like brights. But sometimes, especially in the case of a sympathy card brights just aren't appropriate. I love using the mint for this cardbase, and I love it even more with the bold black. I used Gina K Designs Assorted Greetings, Lacey Borders and a mint colored flourish from PTI. A very simple, yet I feel, elegant card.
Okay I am back at stamping. I have 5 more recoup weeks, so I am hoping to really get into blogland and play in some new challenges. This Moxie day was very entertaining for me. I am asking for constructive feedback, so please I appreciate any responses whether you feel I accomplished the challenge, or maybe, not so much. Or, you like my cards -- I have missed comments being in the hospital got me all out of touch with blogland and fellow bloggers. I missed you all~
Thanks so much for stopping by~

Hooray for all this Moxie Fabness! I too am loving Cath's Card Design challenges, and she's going to be sick of seeing my name in her linky sections. ;)
Love everything you showed us, especially the minty challenge card. Take care of yourself and heal well!
Stunners all, Vicki. I have the mag and it's well worth the $$$$.
Hugs,
I absolutely love the cards you made. I'd say you are doing pretty darn good with this type of technique. On the leaves card, it looks great, but if you wanted to get 3 leaves on the card, try turning them sideways and a little closer together. That was pretty clever to add the red gem.
I also didn't know you were having surgery. I hope everything is okay and you are on the road to recovery. How wonderful that you get to have all this time to create these beautiful cards for us to look at.
I'm really looking forward to seeing them in my emails every day. You ROCK!!
Nice selection of cards. Love your take on the Dynamic Duos card this week, thanks for playing.
As I was reading this post, I kept thinking...she's supposed to be resting LOL
Kid- oh you DO have the natural talent of balancing your cards! You can take the simplest image or embellishment and your card is a winner every time!
