Over at Just Us Girls, the challenge this week is a set of cards with a box.
Those of you who see my posts know that this is my most favorite gift to make! I adore this challenge~ I had picked up some 3x3 cards at Mike's - basically for the envies. However, it dawned on me I could stamp a thank you add a gem, and I would have a stamped set of cards! WOO HOO - easy peasy.
I decorated my box with the butterflies from Hero Arts [with die cuts], and its a 3.25 x 3.25 box. It's so cute IRL!
I stamped the bflies on a dictionary page and sponged them, and I adhered it to a die cut piece of cardstock for stability. I have always loved printed backgrounds. Have I mentioned I LOVE DIE CUTS! :)
To make a box:
Measure item to be boxed (this case 3.25 x3.25 so the envies fit in the box too)
Add 2" (5.25 x 5.25)
Cut card stock [I try and use a heavier cs so my box is sturdy- GKD Kraft]
Score 1" around all sides - fold and cut 1 score line (for each corner) to fold up box - adhere together
For the lid add 1/16th" to the box measurement [so it fits over the bottom.] (5.5/16 x 5.5/16)
Follow same directions used for the bottom of box.
My friend and fellow awesome stamper, Karen Knegten gave me the BEST TIP for boxes: rather than decorating the actual top of the box, cut a shape a little smaller then your lid out of cardstock and decorate THAT and adhere it to the top of your box! [It was a DUH moment for me when she gave me that hint! LOL]
I hope you pop on over to Just Us Girls and play along!! Could be one less hostess/ gift out off your list! Meanwhile, check out my fellow JUGheads and their sets of cards with a box:
Thanks for stopping by~

LOVE those beautiful butterflies! That IS a brilliant idea to decorate a separate "lid cover" and adhere it! Make that a double "DUH" moment! :)
Love those gorgeous butterflies! And the tip is perfect! Makes it so much easier!!
Gorgeous box and cards!
Have wonderful weekend!
Hugs and smiles
Your box of cards is very pretty, I adore the butterflies.
Vicki- This is another fab card gift box set! Thanks for the shout out, GF!
YOU are SO clever, Vicki! I love it! What a spectacular idea - I would have bought that lot for the pre-made envies, myself, but actually USING the cards = brilliant! THIS truly IS an outstanding project - as IF those FABULOUS butterflies weren't enough - gosh, girl! YOU nailed this assignment! {LOL!} BRAVO!
Vicki this is quite a lovely package. I adore that distressed buterfly and the matching notecards.
Oooh clever - I'll remember that idea of just dressing up some pre-made cards - nice shortcut! Beautiful box - well done.
