Couple of Cards

So, I have to say the craft fair....well, first off it was a Women's Day Event - a lot of businesses... I think, no, I know I was the ONLY craft person there.  Not so great.  Major bummer - I sold about 22 cards (I probably had 200+ with ABC projects also.)  I made a little profit (after the table cost).  Would I do it again?  Nope.  However, there is a actual CRAFT FAIR in November.  Now this being closer to Christmas I might do better.  I am still debating.  My friend was such the promoter - "Look at this - isn't it beautiful!  She made them ALL" type pitch.  By myself - I would NEVER say that - I mean seriously - who is going to toot their own horn like that... Not many people I know! HA!  I was so glad Peg was with me -  I sat and smiled and said thank you a lot.... Yes, I gave Peg her CHOICE of anything she wanted!  She rocked the sale for me!  So, that was the result - not great.

I did have a customer order a pink turtle card for her friend's baby shower.  That was cool.  This is what I made - I do think it is cute - I sent her this picture to see if she likes it too.  I will mail this to her if she does.
This adorable turtle is a digi from Clear Dollar Stamps.

I got this sketch challenge in my email for Papercraft Planet.  I took the sketch LITERALLY and even did the nestie embossing with the square.  A CAS card that was fun to make.  Image is PTI.

That's it for me.  I am going to spend some time with DH - he deserves it~~ I'll be back tomorrow with something else I am sure~  Thanks for stopping by!

Sorry to hear about the fair, Vicki.... You'll do MUCH better at an actual craft fair - do give it a whirl. Heck, you are pretty well prepped for it already and with it that close to Christmas, many will be looking for stocking stuffers and gifts :)

It's hard not to take it personally when people don't buy your stuff, but look at it from the perspective that any leftovers you have are a great resource for a lot of hostess gifts and gifts you can use in the future!

Glad you were able to unwind making a few cards - they are both darling.

I'm so sorry to hear of the craft fair!! I TOTALLY understand! I've done the exact same thing...nodding, smiling, saying "thank you" and sitting back down with no $$ in hand. It is soooo much work for little to no appreciation of all the time and effort you put in it. After about 3 I laid 'er down and said no more. I make more $$ by word of mouth than I did at one of those nightmares, ha!

Your work is beautiful. Maybe the Christmas one will be more profitable for you. Keep us informed...we love you!!

These are adorable, Vicki! Wonderful designs and detailing! About your craft fair. I would not worry about it. Try not to let it discourage you. I would go ahead and try the other one in November. You have stuff made so it could not hurt to give it a go. Plus, you did sell 22 which is not bad. You may get some repeat business from those...you know.

What wonderful cards. The pink turtle sentiment is so "today" when you know what you're going to have!! Great job!

Vicki, your cards are fabulous and from your description the sale was more business-oriented -- not a reflection of your wonderful work. I bet you will do great at the craft sale.

fab work.....

craft fairs are really roller coaster affairs....either things fly or sink.....has nothing to do with the quality...just the 'caliber' of the customers
