This is the first of 4 cards I got made. Unfortunately, I can't do the other 2 - I have too much other stuff to get done and its ALL stamping related! LOL [The name of this blog is SO appropriate] I got this sketch from Traci over at Eat, Sleep and Stamp Sketchy Thursday. I love her sketches and this one worked out really well for Challenge 1. Pick a flag and make a card using the colors. I picked Saint Kitts & Nevis. I have no idea where that place is, but the flag was black, green red and white. I liked the colors!
The 2nd challenge was to have snow on your card using embossing powder - I used off white and some sparkle powder. [The photo kind of shows it. I am still trying to figure out showing that type of texture]. I love this tree from Flourishes Forest of Trees (purchased from Mark's Finest Papers) (hint: stamp and than re-stamp for the shaded, depth look). My sun is a reverse mask with summer yellow and more mustard along the edges. The sketch is for one of my favorite sketch challenges - Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge. I love getting her sketch notice on Tuesday pm!!
The 3rd challenge was to have yarn or wool on your card. Now, they used the Olympic mittens as a sample - well, I do not have any wool or yarn in my house (who needs wool in AZ I ask you!) but I did have these free downloaded mittens from Verve (along with the sentiment) so I made faux wool! I cuttlebugged them in a folder and than I sanded them. Don't they sorta look like wool? I thought so.. but than again, I didn't not want to use this card! I thought she was kind of cute with those big ole mittens!
And the last challenge [for me anyway] was the chalkboard technique. I highlighted mine with some white gel pen. I really have to say this is not a technique I enjoy. The image just does not come out bright enough, and it just looks messy to me. But, in all fairness, the last time I did one of these, it turned out much better. All in the colors you use I guess. This was also for the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge - a "p" card, mine was purple, poppies and pierced. The sketch is for MOJO123. I went with a square card. I don't do round cards - no envies for those! LOL.
So, WOW - that was a lot of work to tell you all about these cards. I can see why most people [w/ blogs] only do 1 a day! This is seriously is taking away my stamping time!! LOL - I sure hope you are all coming over and checking it out. What a bummer if no one saw this!! Thanks for visiting. I so appreciate all your awesome comments!! See ya tomorrow! Vicki

remember, gf....YOU are in control of the blog...the blog can't control YOU....lol.....at the beginning it can be addictive and a bit overwhelming, but I think you will find what works for you...I have a tendency to work ahead and schedule a post ahead whenever I can so that I can sometimes not do any posting for a few days....
anyhoooooo...your cards are fab...guess you had a great VSN
Wowzers! Great mojo happening here. If you find cards abundant consider CARDS4KIDS gifting Children's Hospital of Michigan...Detroit where the administration has requested as many Valentine cards as possible to uplift their 250 patients. Feb 8 is receiving date at rubbermaid. blogspot.com where every A2, postcard, or ATC is very appreciate by volunteers 'manning' carts allowing each patient to choose cards for floormates, roommate, friends, family, schoolmates, neighbors, and teachers backhome. Stories of medical staff running in delight about the halls placing 'mailed' Valentines in patient mailboxes are so tear jerking rewarding. Thanks to all creative crafters who generously contribute. Need is huge this year. Blessings.
OMG...you have been super busy...where do you find the time and energy? Love all the cards in this posting, it tough to pick a favorite so I'll pick them ALL as a favorite!
Ah ha! You found the comments section. Great cards, great blog! I see that I have to spend more time on the explaining how I made the cards.
great day! you are sooo knocking them out! you have a lot of time in that post (but thank you for all the wonderful new sites to check out)...now you see why most of us only post one card a day! for me, I try to use Sundays to auto-post my cards so I'm only working on my blog one day(usually) and have the rest of the time to stamp!!! at least that's the goal! I have had my blog "control" me and then I learned that I dont have to post every day...enjoy it!
My favorite is the huge mittens on that little gal ... fantastic. I like the rest of them too but that one made me hoot!
