Having Fun on a Wednesday!

Isn't it just awesome the great information you pick up from other bloggers?  I follow [quite a few] some blogs, and I just love it when I find out about challenges, and little tips* and tricks.  Today, from my blogger friend Marisa, over at Rosemary Reflections. I saw that Verve is running a "Win the Release" challenge in support of World Card Making Day.  I was out of town that week end, so this is going to be the one and only WCMD card I make.  [Yep, you can wish me luck -- I am hoping to win myself thank you~ :)]

It started with this fun sketch;

And here is the card I created:

and a close up of the fun sentiment:

I am so happy I saw this challenge (Thanks Marisa).  I really do love Verve's stamps -- Julee has such a knack with the perfect fonts!  I used Bloom & Grow for this card.  I am also thrilled that Verve now has matching dies with the images.  Heaven, I tell ya, heaven!

Onward to the CAS side of town with 2 challenges; One Layer Wednesday #110, hosted by Heather this week, challenging us to use squares, and the 2nd challenge A Blog Named Hero, make a CAS card.

The timing of Heather's challenge is so perfect I am smiling!  I literally just bought the Stamping Up's Simple Shapes [retired] and received them a couple weeks ago.  I love graphic looking cards, and this set screamed USE ME for Heather's challenge.   I believe it is also CAS enough for A Blog Named Hero.  [Luckily, you don't have to use HA stamps with their challenges].  A bonus is this card can be used for Susan's Gratitude Campaign 2012 [over at Simplicity], since I used Papertrey's Gratitude Journal for the sentiment.

I had a fun day off.  Now, I need to go walk my dogs.  Poor things have been staring at me for the last 30 minutes. :) -- I have to say, they do have an inner clock for sure!

Thanks for stopping by~
* Oh the tip/trick I learned yesterday? -- See the finished edge on my 2nd card's ribbon?  To stop ribbon from fraying, I took my lighter and ran it lightly over the cut tails.  It has such a nice sealed look in real life - and, my ribbon won't fray anymore!  I love that.  [This hint is from a Danielle Daws You Tube Video.]

Two lovely cards today, Vicki. I lvoe the papers and your adorable sentiment with your little heart. Your stipes of black against the blue and tan look fabulous. Your second card is so Clean and Crisp looking. I love it especially with that gorgeous ribbon and those matching gems.

Two beautiful cards, Vicki. I love the clean look of your squares card and the way you added bling so perfectly. I never know where to put bling so usually I don't!
