JUGS 100 & Paper Players

Paper Players #62 this week is make a birthday card -- well that is easy enough.  JUGS is celebrating their 100th challenge!  Wow - I remember when they first started (2 years ago - sheesh).  I haven't played for such a long time, but I wanted to join in the celebration of their success!  It's pretty amazing having over 1000 followers on your challenge site!  You go Girls - you rock!
Regarding my card -- how eclectic is my stamping!  From a total one layer CAS card to an 11 layer card!  Go figure.    I love this craft -- so many different aspects you can do.  I used Gina K Designs Springtime Silhouette, and Papertrey's Hello Friend.  I do want to add, this card took me a lot longer than my OLC did! LOL How long?  About 50 minutes.  Hmmmm.... why do I like CAS?? :)

One Layer Wednesday

I am so HAPPY!  The One Layer Wednesday Challenge is baaaaaaaaaaaaack!! They took the summer off, and while I think Jennifer and Susan thought it went fast, me on the other hand - not so much - I thought it took forevah from my favorite challenge to return!

While these one layer cards take less than 5-10 minutes to make, there is a challenge of sorts.  The placement of your image, sentiment etc are important.  You can have a terrible OLC, or a well balanced, pleasing to the eye card.  Just ask the one layer card guru, Susan, over at Simplicity blog - she'll tell you, in fact check out this and this.  SHE GIVES LESSONS on them! (well kind of - hints and statements anyway :)) Told ya, there really is a thought process for these fun cards.

Meanwhile, the challenge today over at Styles Ink One Layer Wednesday Challenge is a baby card.  Perfect!   One of my co-workers is pregnant!  Because she is new pg and doesn't know the sex, I went with a soft, neutral green. I dug out my Stampin Up I'm Here set, and I  used the fun technique of striping (with copics) my ribbon.  Yep, stripes work for a baby.

I am working on a few other cards [for today] so I will probably be back. Thanks for stopping by~

SCS Sketch

Roxie came up with such an awesome sketch today over at SCS.  I just had to play!  It is really fun using stamps that I have had...... in drawers.  I looked through and pulled out some fabulous Verve.  I really do love these stamps, don't even get me started with Julee's awesome fonts.  Heaven, just heaven.  I used the Verve stamp set, Dream Big.  Unfortunately, there are not any dies to cut out these fun flowers, so yeah I pulled out the ...............scissors. (yuk, phooey, phooey) - gosh I dislike cutting! LOL -- But I do like the end result, so it was worth the struggle.  The leaves are my go-to PTI Turning a New Leaf - with the die to cut out these puppies!  I do love my dies!

STV Mix It Up Monday & SCS Color Challenge

For this Monday, Lee has a "pink" challenge in support of one of our GKD DT Members who has been diagnosed with breast cancer.  She has a "kick butt" attitude and we are all with her "kickin butt" in our thoughts and prayers.  She will overcome this. Meanwhile, we will over load her with cards!  Nothing will cheer her up more then receiving all the "pink" well wishes, along with a Happy Birthday to her, which is next week!  I have to say this was a fun card to make.  Knowing I will actually be mailing for a purpose is fabulous!
I used a combination of stamps on this; GKD A Year of Leaves, Pressed Flowers. Botanicals, and All Occasion Tags.  That great dp is also for sale .  See the pearls? - Yep, that is the fun white Liquid Pearls.  I just love that they look like the real thing!  All of these are available at Gina K Designs Online Store.

Mary, over at SCS (Splitcoaststampers) Color Challenge, challenged us this week to using Cajun Craze, So Saffron & Always Artichoke, with a dessert of a Fall Theme.  I had made a card, decided not to use it, but it had used up the last of my Artichoke, so like the challenge says -- don't have it? Use the closest color you do have-  which, is Old Olive for me.  I have become addicted to this layout.  I know, I know my cards are looking the same -- but, but -- I LOVE LOVE LOVE this layout, and quite frankly, I like this card.  :)
Leaf image is from GKD Falling For You STV Kit, and the sentiment is from Follow Your Dreams.

Papertrey Make It Monday #31

Oh boy - I have so missed playing in Papertrey's MIM challenge. This week, the extremely talented (I just love this girl!) , Dawn McVey challenged us to make our own background with a non background stamp. I flipped through my little (tiny) collection of PTI and found the fun little set Flower Fusion 2 -- I stamped little flowers, then I pulled out my go-to Turning a New Leaf, and stamped some more. Wala - bg paper. I also used the Fillable Frames 10, along with Butterfly Dreams - with a die of course :).  Thanks PTI and Dawn - this challenge was fun!

What If Wednesday Sketch

Gosh I almost missed the What If? Wednesday Sketch Challenge over at The House that Stamps Built!  What a great sketch this week - my card kind of made itself - with the exception of the coloring :).  I love me a good sketch!  What helps is the gorgeous flowers from Gina K Designs Heartfelt Thanks.  Eventually I will acquire some Repeat Impressions stamps :) promise.

CAS-ual and Clean

I love this card!  So easy, and I think so pretty! (Can I say that? HA - yep!) My colors are from CAS-ual Fridays - red, white & back, along with the sketch from Clean & Simple #156.  Have I mentioned that I ADORE dies!  The scroll die is from Cheery Lynn - oh I am in heaven!  The Tim Holtz Fan Flower die -- so much easier than creating by hand!  A sentiment stamp from Mark's Finest Papers Lilacs in the Summer  (on sale this week end 20% off!) and this easy card was done!

Here's the card I came up with for Thankful For You
I watercolored the image with Tim Holtz distress inks and than dual embossed the image with the oval paper.  I really do love the added texture.  I also striped my ribbon with a ruler and copics!  You all know I love dots and stripes!!
