Gina K Designs May Blog Hop Day 2

I hope you all had a nice long holiday week end, I didn't, I worked yesterday.  But, on the up side it is time and half~~ gotta love those paid holidays.
Today is day 2 for the newly released GKD stamp sets. We are featuring Dreams, illustrated by Tami Mayberry, and Birthday Bash, illustrated by Rupa Shevde.
Here is my sample for Dreams.  I used the beautiful designer paper from Pinkpaislee Butterfly Garden.  This paper just takes my breath away -- I think it is gorgeous! (Yes, it is available at GKD's store)

Here is a close up of the sentiment.
And here is the card I made for Giovana's party challenge - Black & White.
and the close up

Here is my sample for Birthday Bash:

My colors were inspired from a virtual birthday cake someone sent me for my birthday a few days ago.  Is this a fun cake or what!  I loved the bright colors (and was able to use the new Lime Green cardstock!) and they went perfect for this fun birthday card.  My bg dots are from Vintage Background.

I also made this card for my nephew who lost his best friend, his dog Morgan, on Saturday.  I so feel his pain -- loosing a dog just rips your heart out, especially when you have no kids -- THEY ARE your kids.  I think he will appreciate this card.

I love the versatility of this set - from Happy Birthday to I'm sorry for your loss.
Now, keep going and see what else the Design Team has created.  I'll be back with Day 3 tomorrow.
Thanks for stopping by~

SCS Color Challenge

The colors this week are Pacific Point, Razzelberry and Daffodil Delight.  I went CAS- sometimes colors just don't work for me.- CAS is a good stand by for me. In this case, I love this card!  But then again, I adore my new butterfly die from Cheery Lynn Designs.  Pretty isn't it?  I used an element from GKD Elegant Elements, the sentiment is from GKD Birthday Bash, and the dots are from GKD Timeless Texture.  I love the way the stamps work together!

Stamp TV - Mix It Up Monday - Sewing

Today, Sharon is challenging us to use sewing on our card.  Well ladies, you know, I can not stitch a straight line (as much as I want to) with a sewing machine - however, hand stitching is another matter!  This is even free hand stitched - no ruler in this shape! :)  I really like to hand stitch - it is so relaxing.  I used the newly released GKD stamp set Dreams, illustrated by Tami Mayberry.  My color inspiration came from one of my pins from Pin It:
I was going to add texture on my card, but I forgot.(slap forehead here) Anyway, here is a close up of the cracked glass technique I did.
Wanna play?  Pop on over the Stamp TV and join in the challenge.  You might be the random winner of any GKD stamp set up to $24.95.
The GKD Blog Hop will start up again tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by ~

Featured Stamper - Speedy's Challenge

I don't know the Featured Stamper this week, but once again. fabulous choice. Her gallery is awesome. I love being exposed to "new" stampers -- such inspiration. I am also playing in [a first as a participate] Speedy the Cat's Friends Challenge; lace and ivory.  Love this combination, plus, I wanted to officially say goodbye to the leaving DT's - Karen, Susan and Joanne.  They are amazing stampers and will be missed on Speedy's Team.  This is the last of my stash of lace from Mark's Finest Papers.  I just adore this lace, I think it is just stunning.  I also used the newly released MFP Magnolia Wedding stamp set.  Perfect for any wedding card!

Less is More Challenge

This is the square that Less is More is challenging us with. You must pick 1 corner and only 1, stamp your image, and the rest of the card must be white.

Okay, I think I got it correct.  Last week, I guess I didn't have enough white showing here.  Even though it doesn't need to be a one layer card, I made it one.  I love these for mailing - totally 44 cents, plus, I think this is a fun card.  I made the polka dots by holding down my Copic Colorless Blender for a few seconds.  Takes that ink right off.  Both stamps are from the $1 at Michael's.  I am just amazed at how well these stamps stamp and they are just fun!!
Thanks for stopping by~ Hope you have a great 3 day week end (if you get one- I don't :( ).

Gina K Designs May Blog Hop Day 1

Welcome to day 1 for Gina K Designs Blog Hop.  If you made it to the party last night, you were lucky enough to see all the fabulous sets - maybe even buy them!  The Design Team will take the next few days, and hopefully inspire you with the newly released sets.  Today, we are showcasing GKD Border Bling, illustrated by Melanie Muenchinger.
Mel has done another fun set using dots.  As you can see, I used my [accidentally ordered] blue liquid pearls for the look of gems on my card.  I had so much fun (and will continue to) with this set and the liquid pearls!  I just love the way this card turned out!

The second set we are featuring today is Vogue Vases, illustrated by Theresa Momber. This card is also for the Stamp TV Friday Free For All  challenge - a masculine birthday card.   Once again, Theresa rocked this set with realistic images, along with some awesome sentiments.
I love the ferns in this set - they work perfectly for the masculine look I was trying to capture.  The sentiment is so generic - this is for a birthday, but I think I will also be using it for retirement cards.  Oh, it is kind of scary that I am making retirement cards - really my friends are that old?? :) Sheez.
That's it for me today -- Because of the holiday, Day 2 will be continued on Tuesday, June 1st.
Now, hop on to the other DT's and check out the amazing creations you will see.

SCS Inspiration Challenge

I had to take a break from DT cards and just play in a challenge. I chose one of my 3 favorites - SCS Inspiration. I haven't played in a while on this challenge and this site was fun. All about plates and napkins.  Lots of inspiration that's for sure.  I used a mixture of stamps - MFP - Just Dandy, GKD Vintage Backgrounds and PTI Dot Spots.

Cheery Lynn Design Blog Challenge

I got my order in from Cheery Lynn Designs!  Oh my BEAUTIFUL dies!  Are these butterflies total elegance -- oh major happy sigh going on here!  [My sentiment is from GKD Taking Flight]. This is only 1 -- I got about 9 plus a few others.  You might be seeing a lot of butterflies on my cards~~ :)  The Cheery Lynn blog is running a butterfly challenge (it must be one of their's) -- I couldn't wait to make a card - 1) to see how these cut (really well) and 2) to play in the challenge!  I am sneaking this post in my blog - it's busy for the next couple of days.  :)

This is another die I got -- and can you believe it?  I had already ordered this one.  Sheez! How ridiculous is that!

Stampin B's - Collage

Vicky, over at the Stampin B's, has challenged us to make a collage card.  I love making these, since I use my 3 layered background effect.   On this card, I used designer paper and just stamped some ink shadows, which does give it a collage look.  My version anyway.  I used the fabulous MFP stamp set American Made.  I just adore this set of stamps!  Very versatile, and very masculine!  We all need masculine cards at one time or another!  Wanna play?  Well, come on over to the Stampin B's and join in!  We would love to see your collage card!

Papertrey's Customer Blog Hop

I am so busy making "future" cards, but I had to take the time to make this fun flowery Spring card for the Papertrey Customer Hop.  Have I mentioned my goal?  To be on the awesome Design Team for this company!! [Goals are good right??]  I really love the stamps, and the new die cuts?  Total HEAVEN!  I used Beautiful Blooms 3 dies for the felt flowers, Turning a New Leaf die and stamp, and my newest Dot Spots for the bg.  Oh yeah and the die for the ric rack.  Yep, dies and I are getting along just perfectly~ I also used Signature Greetings for my sentiment.
A fast, easy card to break up my day -- thanks PTI for sponsoring a Customer Hop!!  And, thank you for stopping by~

Stamp TV Mix It Up Monday

Donna's challenge today over at Stamp TV is Shabby Chic.  I love this look, and I really do not make these cards enough.
Instead of using designer paper, which would of made this card super easy to make, I made my own 3 layered background paper.  I enjoy making my own backgrounds with this technique.  I used Gina K Designs  Garden Silhouettes for my images, and Timeless Textures for the "texture".  Ribbon, lace and hat pin courtesy of Walmart.  I also found a new challenge site Raise the Bar from my fellow Paper Doll, Wanda Cullen (who is on the DT).  This week is a sympathy card.  Perfect.

Stamp TV Free For All Friday

The challenge last Friday was using kraft.  Well, I have no problem with that challenge!  I adore kraft.  There is really no color that doesn't work with kraft.  I used some new dp (GKD) Pinkpaislee Butterfly Garden - gorgeous stuff!  My image and sentiment is from the Springtime Silhouettes Stamp TV kit.

Here are a couple more cards I made for the VSN challenges. I didn't complete all challenges, I gave up, I have to many other cards to make, and simply ran out of time!  The few challenges I played in were fun though!  I definitely got my "fix" :).

I used GKD stamp set Follow Your Dreams, illustrated by Theresa Momber, for both of the challenges.  The first card challenge was sponging -- I HAD to play in that one -- I adore sponging.  The other challenge was use  a boat.  Perfect challenges for this set of fabulous stamps!  Like I said I got my stamping fix, and now I am going out to dinner -- It's my birthday!  I spent the day stamping (which I love to do), and I have to eat~~

VSN Challenges

Sorry to be overwhelming you with cards, but I needed to get my fix!  7 days w/o stamping and I am just not a happy camper :).  Having the Virtual Stamping Night going on over at SCS is the perfect remedy for me.  My first VSN a few years back it took me 2 hours (!) to make a card!!  Yeah, the time limit is 45 minutes but hey, I was a novice to all this stuff.  Today, I am happy to report my avg time has been 30 minutes with 10 for photoing, editing and uploading!  TOTAL 40 minutes!  HA!  Under the time frame - yep I am happy.  Oh!  Do you want to see the cards -- hee hee
I used the sketch from Card Patterns 116 on this card.  Perfect to highlight this beautiful image from Mark's Finest Papers - American Made.  I really do love this patriotic set!  Challenge for VSN - color; kraft, aqua, green.

This VSN - make a criss cross card.  I used one of my new favorite color combos - gray, black and lime which lucky for me Color Throwdown just happens to be using these colors for a challenge!.  Gina K Designs has come out with a gorgeous lime colored paper!  So bright and pretty!  I also used GKD's  stamp set Bring the Bling.  I have been waiting for some liquid pearls to try with this set.  Oh WOW is this so fun with the set and pearls~ I will be using this mixture alot!  Check it out~

Is that gorgeous or what!  I used Silver Liquid Pearls and I am impressed!  I have never used this product before~

and here is what a cc card looks like when "opened"

Last but not least (there are 7+ more challenges to do!  I just wanted to get some in before my blog posts)
This VSN was to CASE a fellow stamper - well, my Color Challenge Teammate Joanne Travis over at SleepyinSeattle, made Queen for the Day!  Yep, pretty exciting for Joanne, and perfect for me - I got 2 challenges done with 1 card!

I used Verve's sets Happy Days and One Person.  I really like how these stamps stamp - so crisp and precise.

I hope this loads today - I might have missed the cut off.  Thanks for stopping by~
