Oh so fun - More Challenges!

I love getting blogs by email -- it is so fun to find new challenge sites!  I found Paper and Such.  Their challenge is a quickie, last minute Christmas card!  LOL  Well, naturally I had to play in this challenge!

I grabbed my Hero Arts/Sizzix set Holiday Cheer. I LOVE THESE SETS WITH DIES! Oh my gosh it makes me so happy not to have to cut out my images!  AND cuuuuuuuuuuute or what!  I think he is so fun with his sweater!  I think this 5 min card qualified as quick and last minute~

Then, I popped over to Simplicity and low and behold, Susan is running her One Layer card challenge!  I haven't played in this challenge in so long -- I really missed it!  So, off to create a "peaceful" one layer card.
I used the water spritzing technique on this card.  Because it is regular cardstock, it has a different effect then water color paper.  I used Tim Holtz distress ink Mustard Seed.  I am not sure about this card.  However, it is "peaceful" and the sentiment just had to be used.   (Susan I know you will appreciate this!)   I'm thinking maybe my sentiment should of been stamped higher on the image.(??)  One thing about my friend Susan, she will tell me [if I ask] and I am asking.  She is all about balance.  I am still on the learning curve for that.  I'll get there.... eventually.
My stamps are both Hero Arts.  I won the image from Paper Crafts (and so much more - fabulous goodie box let me say!) and the sentiment is ClearDesign Treasure CL155.

Okay - I had fun tonight -- 3 cards 3 challenges -- very productive!
Thanks for popping in -- thanks for your comments too~ I love hearing from you!

Okay, I couldn't help but think about this last card all night! I couldn't stand it, so I made another one! Now, this one has much more balance and I am now happy. I can move on to other cards :) . Since I was early last pm I am able to upload the "correct card" for Susan's challenge~

Fabulous CAS cards! Love the little reindeer! I have "collected" quite a few distress inks after attending JM class and hopefully after the holidays I can play with them more!

Reindeer is too cute :) Love the colour and the image on the second card. Well done on both. Can see what you mean re: the sentiment on the second. A teeny smidge highter (about 1/4") so the bottom of the sentiment is also on the mustard may do the trick - but then what do I know, I only have one creative gene LOL! Have a great day :)

What a nice post to read, Vicki! Congrats on winning goodies from Paper Crafts -- wow, you lucky girl. :)

Cute li'l reindeer card, and pretty water spotted card. I esp. like the little yellow 'rain' dots you placed on there.

See? You did NOT need my advice. You've got a fine eye. Even the first version was only a little bit off...and not obviously off on first glance because the yellow dots worked so well to keep attention on the image and not the sentiment, which is just a tad too low. Your second version is rock-solid and serene, balanced and perfect!

And your reindeer card is too cute for words. LOVE the white space and your coloring!

oh boy am I having fun on your blog right now. I had to comment on this one because of what you said under the image (the first sympathy card). When I first saw this card, before reading what you wrote, my very first thought was how great the placement of everything was. Your sentiment looks perfect to me where it's at, but knowing where to put those colored dots is really incredible. You make really incredible cards.

I like all three cards. That reindeer is so cute! I do think I like the placement of the sentiment better when it is a little higher. Cool technique with the spritzing. Very peaceful and serene.
